The Bowling Green Central Business Special Improvement District dba Downtown BG

Downtown Bowling Green works to maintain and expand the Central Business District as the business, cultural and recreational center of the City of Bowling Green. We have operated as a Special Improvement District, pursuant to the Ohio Revised Code Section 1710, since the year 2000.  In 2010, we also formed a 501(c)3 supporting charity to facilitate our work on maintenance of the district.  

Maintenance of the District

Downtown BG helps maintain the downtown business district by coordinating snow removal, litter control, painting and plantings.

Promotion of the District

Downtown BG promotes the district to local, regional, and national audiences, including Bowling Green State University faculty, staff, and students. Special events are developed and promoted  all year long. We employ a mix of public relations and advertising in all manner of media to distribute information about the district and the businesses located here.

Marketing and Business Retention
Regular two way communication with the businesses, property owners, and city government helps Downtown BG serve as a marketing agent and advocate for the district. We also maintain information resource files and conduct occasional seminars on subjects of interest to our businesses.  

The Downtown Dollars gift certificate program is a cornerstone of our business retention efforts and has, directed more than a quarter million dollars to participating downtown businesses over the past five years.
